Old African Wood Punu Mask – CONGO – Early to Mid 20th Century
Old wooden mask from the Punu people of the Congo.
Conservatively dated early to mid 20th Century, but possibly 19th Century.  Typical serene face with almost Asian features. Well-used and hand carved from a single piece of wood. Nice patina of age. Remnants of original paint. Old chips and losses throughout, particularly to the rear edge.
Please examine photos carefully for condition.
Purchased years ago at auction, part of my personal collection that I am selling to downsize. A nice, old, and tribally used example.
