Very beautiful feminine PUNU face mask. With a typical finely worked hairdress and a very nice face painted in brown and white. Lots of details like the visible teeth.
A PUNU mask embodies the close connection between the world of the living and the dead in African beliefs. They are mostly feminine in nature.
The number and position of the scarifications varies per style or ethnic group. These distinctive signs, called mabinda, were made in children around the age of ten to fourteen.
Overall good condition, possible traces of use. Chip on the left side of the hairdo. (See last picture).Take a good look at the pictures.
